God doesn't dwell in the past. He is the God of the Now Moment

Read Isaiah 43:18, 19

18- "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! 19- Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland".

God doesn't dwell in the past; he is always looking forward to what will be. His Word tells us to look forward to the coming of His Son, Jesus. And He is in this present time. He is the God of this moment, right now!

God did great things in the past. We read of these things in the Old and New Testaments. God did great things through the prophets. God did great things through the disciples and Apostles, and until Christ's return, God will continue to do great things through His children.

Unlike us, God doesn't get stuck in His past glories, thinking the old days were better. Those who dwell on their past are prevented from seeing what God is doing in their lives now.

When you continue to look to the past, you will not look towards the future. Christ saw beyond the pain of the cross to the victory that is ours through Him.

Peter and John felt the pain of the flogging on their backs, but they knew God was doing a new thing through their lives.

Saul later became the apostle Paul saw nothing but darkness and had to be led around by the hand. But Saul knew God was doing a new thing in his life.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging." (Psalm 46:1-3 NIV)

You may be in a situation that appears to you as hopeless.  You feel inadequate and incompetent. You feel despair. Don't give up on God. Remember, God's commandment to His children is this; "Be strong and courageous" because he is with you.  (Joshua 1:9)  God is saying to you be strong and be courageous. Why? Because He is with you!

The now moment you are in requires you to be strong and courageous. In your now moment, do not fear, don't get discouraged.  Remember, right now, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. He wants to do a new thing in your life, do you not perceive it?
